While there's a chance you can run the phone without a physical SIM card, I just installed my old sim card and the phone was ready to be set up.

Size - it's approximately the same size as my old 3A.
My wife likes this size as compared to her old Moto E.
It is slimmer and easier to hold.

5G Speed
Disappointing - 37 upload and 5 download. I was hoping for 200 upload.
LTE speed is 26 upload and 4 download. From my Pixel 3a.

Gestures

I changed to the 3-button Navigation

Swipe up from bottom - takes you to the main screen.

Swipe up from the bottom just a little - shows you all the apps which are open.
You can then choose the app you want or delete the app you don't want by swiping it up.

Swipe left from the bottom - takes you to current screens.

Swipe down from top to get to Control Center - some Settings and Notifications
Swipe down again to get into more settings.

Update - you will want to update the Pixel 5A - Settings - System - Advanced - System Update.

Google Photos app - check to see that this is turned on to auto update.

Screenshot - hold down Vol. Down and Power button - quickly.

Screen Record - it's on the top drop down menu area.
