LATEST ATTEMPT FAILED

No Quiboloy in sight

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has appealed to fugitive televangelist Apollo Quiboloy, who again eluded a third attempt by the police to arrest him on charges of human trafficking and sexual abuse, to surrender and face the allegations against him. The PNP simultaneously served an arrest warrant against Quiboloy in several of his properties in Davao City.

The latest attempt to arrest Quiboloy prompted former President Rodrigo Duterte to accuse the government of "overkill" in its hunt for the controversial televangelist, claiming that policemen used "excessive force" to enter and search the properties of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ leader.

Vice President Sara Duterte also supported calls for just and humane law enforcement in relation to what she called "questionable" display of force and authority during the serving of arrest warrants.

Meanwhile, Commodore Jay Tarriela, the Philippine Coast Guard spokesperson for the West Philippine Sea, took a swipe at the Dutertes, saying they should have their priorities checked as they are very vocal in defending the embattled religious leader while remaining quiet about China's aggressions in the WPS.

"They never had any comments when the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine Coast Guard were subjected to inhumane and barbaric harassment while carrying out a medical evacuation in Ayungin Shoal," Tarriela said in a post on X.
