ICC, INTERPOL UPDATES

PH gov't won't block

Despite the Philippines' complete disengagement from the International Criminal Court (ICC) in 2019, Solicitor General Menardo Guevarra said the government would not stand in the way of the prosecutor's investigation of the Duterte administration's bloody drug war.

Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla also added that the Marcos government will not block any arrest warrants that the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) may issue concerning the ICC case.

Former Sen. Antonio Trillanes earlier revealed that the ICC has already asked Interpol to issue a "blue notice" against five former and current high-ranking officials of the Philippine National Police, including Sen. Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa.

Dela Rosa, on his part, said he is willing to face ICC prosecutors, but only if it involves being interviewed and nothing else. However, he stressed that it does not mean he is willing to cooperate with the court should their investigators arrive in the Philippines.
