Sara faces two

Amid discussions of impeaching Vice President Sara Duterte over various issues, civil society organizations have finally filed an impeachment complaint against her before the House of Representatives on Monday, Dec. 2. The 50-page complaint was endorsed by Akbayan Party-list Rep. Percival Cendaña.

Allegations of confidential fund misuse and threats against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. are among the issues cited against VP Duterte. Former Sen. Leila De Lima, acting as the spokesperson for the complainants, stated that the complaint contains 24 articles of impeachment.

Just a few days after the first complaint, Duterte faced another impeachment complaint filed by over 70 representatives of progressive groups, led by Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (Bayan), who went to Congress on Wednesday, Dec. 4.

These complaints contrast with President Marcos' stance, as he previously urged his allies not to waste time on impeaching the vice president, saying that she was "unimportant" and the move would just bog down Congress and won't benefit a single Filipino.
